Iran Logistics and Freight Services

Regular TIR services from Turkey to Iran via the Gürbulak (Bazargan) and Kapıköy border crossings — reliable full- and part-load transport to Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan and Mashhad.

Road Freight to Iran

Iran is the most populous and economically significant of Turkey's eastern neighbours. Road trade between the two countries has continued for decades, with TIR routes crossing Eastern Anatolia forming the backbone of this commerce. Çevikoğlu Lojistik operates regular TIR services from its İskenderun base to all major Iranian centres — primarily the capital Tehran, the major Azerbaijani city of Tabriz, the industrial centre of Isfahan, and the north-eastern city of Mashhad.

Two main border crossings are used for Turkey–Iran road transport. The Gürbulak–Bazargan crossing in Ağrı province carries the heaviest traffic and leads directly toward Tabriz and then Tehran. The Kapıköy–Razi crossing in Van province offers an alternative, preferred at times for shipments to Iran's West Azerbaijan region. Average transit time ranges from 4 to 7 days.

Regions Served in Iran

Tehran is Iran's political capital and economic hub; a large proportion of inbound cargo is either delivered here or distributed onward across the country. Tabriz, close to the Turkish border, is the first major destination city on the Iran corridor and a strong trading centre with its own industrial base and surrounding provinces. Isfahan ranks among Iran's most important industrial cities thanks to its textile, steel and petrochemical facilities. Mashhad in the north-east holds strategic significance both as a religious tourism destination and as a gateway to Central Asia. Regular shipments also serve the provinces of Urmia, Ardabil, Hamadan and Shiraz.

Eastern Anatolia Corridor and Logistics Planning

TIR trucks bound for Iran typically join the Eastern Anatolia corridor before diverging toward the south-east from Gaziantep or Adıyaman, reaching Ağrı via Malatya, Elazığ, Bingöl or Erzurum. The final stretch from Ağrı to Gürbulak can be mountainous and climatically demanding; trip planning accounts for snowy and icy road conditions around Doğubayazıt, particularly in winter. The road distance from İskenderun to Gürbulak is approximately 1,400 km, and the initial phase — including loading and border procedures — can be completed within two days.

Main Cargo Categories We Handle

On the Iran corridor we most frequently carry industrial raw materials and finished goods (iron, steel, aluminium, copper), construction materials (ceramics, glass, construction chemicals), agricultural and food products (grain products, dry goods, confectionery, vegetable oil), chemical products and plastic feedstocks, as well as machinery and equipment. Iran's broad industrial base generates demand for road freight across a wide range of product categories. Temperature-sensitive products requiring cold-chain transport are also safely delivered to Iran's interior regions using our refrigerated vehicles.

TIR Carnet and Customs Procedures

The TIR carnet is the primary transit document for Iran shipments; cargo is carried in transit status under the guarantee of the TIR carnet from Turkey exit through to the Iranian inland customs office. Both Turkish and Iranian customs authorities carry out comprehensive document checks at Gürbulak; the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and any special import licences must be prepared in full. We are aware that Iran requires advance import licences for certain product categories; our customs consultants share these specific documentation requirements with clients in advance. All shipments are covered by CMR cargo insurance.

Full-Load and Part-Load Solutions

Given Iran's distant location and the length of the transit time, full-load (FTL) vehicle allocation is the most efficient solution for large-volume cargo; the load travels from the loading point to the destination address in Tehran or Isfahan without transhipment. For small and medium-sized consignments, our part-load (LTL) consolidation option is available; part loads incorporated into our weekly departure schedule for Tabriz and Tehran offer an economical solution. Vehicle tracking is active in both modes and the real-time location of the cargo is monitored throughout.

Transit Times and Departure Frequency

Average transit time from our İskenderun base to Tabriz is 4–5 days; to Tehran 5–6 days; to Isfahan and Mashhad 6–7 days. Waiting times at Gürbulak or Kapıköy can vary with traffic volumes and season; winter weather conditions in Eastern Anatolia may also affect the route. We account for all these variables and communicate realistic delivery dates to our clients. Regular weekly departures mean full loads can be dispatched with minimal waiting time.
